Ardent Steel Limited (ASL), a HIRA Group Company plans to set up a greenfield integrated steel plant at at Phuljhar village in Banspal block of Keonjharat Odisha, where company already has a pelletisation plant. New plant will build in two phases. An investment of INR 4013 crore earmarked for new plant.
In the first phase, company will go for DRI, Captive Power Plant and Pipeline project. Capacity of proposed DRI will be 0.6 MTPA. To run this plant company needs 100 MW power. But it will seek approval for 125 MW capacities.
In the second phase, company plans to add Blast Furnace, SMS, Rolling Mill and Sinter Plant. Proposed capacity of Blast Furnace will be 0.6 MTPA.
While discussing about the new project with SteelMint, Dr Subhasis Das, Director, ASL said that, “We are planning for public hearing very soon. We already deposited 10% amount with IDCO for land acquisition purpose. They have allotted us 433 acres of land which is adjacent to our pelletisation plant.”
“If everything going according to plan then by September of next year we will start production from the new plant. That is our plan. We plan to make the integrated steel plant fully operational within next two years” Dr. Das added.
To feed the new plant, ASL plans to secure a captive mines. Dr. Das said that, “ We will going to participate in the upcoming mineral block auction.”
ASL also plans to increase the Production capacity of Pelletisation Plant to 6,90,000 ton per annum. By Next month (September) expansion of Pelletisation Plant will be completed. Company needs no additional land for this expansion. Only one filter added to the existing set up.
Dr. Das said “For Pelletisation Plant expansion, we will go EC presentation very soon. We will have to approach MoEF of Government of India for EC clearance and Sound Clearance.”
Talking about pellet export He said , “Our two main export market is China and Dubai. We export most of our produced pellet to China. Only one container we sent for Emirates Steel which is around 55,000 tonne.
Our 90% ore export is to China. As we are expanding our Pellet production capacity, we want to sell some ore in domestic market. For this month, we have a booking form Tata Steel and Bhusan Steel. They will take the entire pellet to be be produced at the plant this month.” He added.
ASL is a subsidiary of Godawari Power and Ispat Limited (GPIL), Raipur. GPIL has 75% shareholding in ASL. GPIL is a HIRA group company.
