In the recent development Leela Green Ship Recycling (P) Ltd”, Plot no 35 Alang, has received SOC from Class NK for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships. Now, “LEELA GROUP” has 3 HKC SOC yards ( 2 certified by Class NK & 1 by RINA), this is an important development towards a more sustainable ship recycling industry. In Alang ship recycling where more than half of the active yards have obtained the statements of compliance (SoC) with HKC from IACS- member classification societies such as Class NK, RINA and IR Class.
Komal Kant Sharma, Chairman & MD, Leela Group expressed enormous pleasure that “ It’s been a wonderful and a green conscious journey and we have managed to achieve a lot within one year of taking over the yard. We pledge to continue our commitment towards responsible Ship recycling and to take it a step further we are going for ClassNK Independent Verification Certificate for European Union Ship Recycling Regulation (EUSRR)”.
These encouraging development of certifications will clearly keep up the standard of operating practices of Alang ship recycling yards and it will be highly acknowledged and supported by the international shipping community.
