Pristine-M process for drying of low-rank coals is being developed by Clean Coal Technologies, Inc. (CCTI). It is a patented low-cost coal de-watering technology for converting low-rank coal into a cleaner burning more efficient fuel. It has succeeded in drying and stabilizing of coal cheaply using volatile matter (VM) released by the feed coal.
Pristine-M process reduces moisture content, while also stabilizing and sealing the treated low-rank coal to prevent moisture re-absorption and spontaneous combustion. It also increases the calorific value (CV) of low-rank coals to values which are comparable with the CV of bituminous coals. Pristine-M is the third stage in the process development. The other two stages are ‘Pristine-SA’ and ‘Pristine’.
